Deviousness |

Of the 50 pieces in my devinatwatch area, this was the one that most caught my eye. It certainly stands out well amongst a crows. I loves the look of it all and the subject as well as the depth you create and the sense of contemplation and isolation. And for no reason I can put my finger on, it made me think of Ayn Rand's Anthem. Don't know if that's good or bad. Not even sure what exactly that means but I thoughts I'd toss it out.
Crit:
The color scheme you choose for this works very well in that it creates a wonderful serene mood. I really think all the hints of yellow tones work well. and tie the piece together. You've also got a great sense of depth around the tree area as it contrasts with the rest of the image. I feel like the girl gets a little lost where her head meets the sky. IT seems like it's a bit hazy their and it flattens the image out at that point for me, just a little.
My major crit on this would be composition. I think it's just slightly to still. I think if the girl had been over to the left a little more, and if that tree root pointed up just a bit more, you'd have a clean line going from the dark area of the tree, to the girl, then the large structure in the city, which of course draws the eye to the city.
I think the line is just a little off, which leads me to feel like it's all a little detached and my eye keeps bouncing around a bit too much rather than taking the whole thing in.
The 3 dimensionality of the grass and stuff in the foreground seems just a little off. It's hard to place. That might also be just an effect of the digital reproduction of the traditional piece. All in all, amazingly cool. Faved!
The central statues are superb and the colouring is great!
Really excellent job Alanise!
